Michael Selig, Chief Counsel of the SEC’s crypto Task Force, will face a Senate confirmation hearing on November 19 for his nomination as CFTC chair. The hearing marks a pivotal moment as the U.S. government shutdown nears resolution, allowing stalled congressional proceedings to resume.

Selig’s appointment aligns with President Trump’s vision to position the U.S. as a global leader in cryptocurrency innovation. The CFTC has operated under interim leadership, with Acting Chair Caroline Pham as the sole commissioner since Brian Quintenz’s withdrawn nomination in June.
